Hey fellas,
Out local Dick’s Sporting Goods stores are running sales right now on various hunting items. Some of the prices are very good.
Have you fellas had any experience with this top-secret brand of deer scents? Right now they’re selling the 3 ounce bottles marked down to $ 2.97. I bought quite a bit.
I was planning on using it in those magnum mock scrape daytime dripping containers. They make two types. One is from Buck urine which is what I am planning on using in this application. I put several of them out on various properties that I hunt.
They also make a "hot mama" does estrous product.
If you guys had any experience with this brand of products? Have you heard any good things about these products?
Thanks

I am going to pick up four dozen of these today, all he had (poor guy blew out his shoulder and has to use a crossbow now) for $ 140, so works out to $ 35 a dozen, fletched and everything but tips. Good deal?
Just wondering how old and how good the arrows are and if anyone has used them. Are they high or low end Eastons? I could not find on the Easton site. Thanks for any info!

Here is a pic of my son Logan and I. We were turkey hunting yesterday afternoon. Saw seven hens after he started his power nap.

some of my favorite time with him out chasing those damn thunder chickens.

Hey there guys and gals of AT! Im new to the site and to bow hunting/shooting. Ive always wanted to get into it, but never really pursued it. I am looking for a little info on things I NEED vs Want in a new/slightly used bow. I have shot a hand full, Carbon Knight, Faktor, Ballistic and a few others. As of now im pretty sold on the Ballistic. Its a package deal from a pro shop that includes the warranty for 649. It feels good, great draw. I guess what im asking is a 2 part question: 1st, package deals vs bare bow. I love the Ballistic, but I can already tell I will want to replace the rest and stabilizer right away, then the sight before hunting season. Would it be a better value to buy a bare bow and put everything on it? It would end up costing just a bit more it seems and I really dont wanna wait to shoot…ITS TOO FUN. 2nd question is performance based. Im testing all the bows @ 60#’s, which feels good. It gives me a great base to compare all the bows I shoot without wearing myself out. Unfortunately, I think it takes away from the speed, which I dont know how important it is, and distance…i think. I would like to be able to shoot in competitions when I cant hunt so I would like to know what performance specs I need to have to be competitive (i know a lot is due to practice), as well as accurate when I hunt. Like I said, im new to bows and these may be silly questions, but any and all info on brands to stick with or avoid would be great. Thanks in advance!

Folks,
I am looking for a some input on what constitutes a good practice regimen. I am relatively new to archery, having not shot a bow in 40 years until the last month or so. Unfortunately I am not able to practice in my yard. The archery range is an indoor range about 20 minutes from my house. I am taking lessons from the owner.
I can’t shoot every day, but try to practice twice a week. I am pretty much a recreational archer who just wants to be as good as I can be while enjoying the sport.
I am interested in your thoughts on an efficient practice session including thoughts on stretching, warm-up, shooting distances (range max is 20 yards), practice objectives, how long a practice session should be, how many arrows to shoot in total, etc.
The only thing I can compare this to in my experience is golf. For example, I have a routine that starts with stretching, then warm-up focusing on tempo, followed by wedges, progressing through longer irons, and lastly the driver. I will often finish by playing a few imaginary holes where I hit driver, then an iron to specific target on the range . Would something similar be beneficial in an archery practice session – maybe shoot at 10 yards, then 15, and finally 20 yards? Maybe finish with some type of competition?
Thanks in advance for any suggestions.

Spring’s a rolling in so hopefully the weather will get nice enough to do some more work on my custom quiver. All I need is the lip and am now looking into an insert right now….Now to the question…What’s a good insert? I did do some research and also some trial and error stuff. Right now I made my own broadhead case using a food container that is nicely sized and by putting in some high density foam, 4 layers, cut to the shape of the food container (1/2" thick layers). I got this stuff from a local Joanns. The leftover piece, they cut per yard, I tried rolling into a 1.5 inch log to fit into my quiver, but it is not working as I’d like it too. One, it is TOO flexible so unless i can align the sandwich gaps with the arrow, it gets pushed in more than having the arrow slide in between, and two, due to the thickness, there are not that many gaps between the layers as it was rolled. I was thinking of buying a cheap yoga mat and doing the same, but I figured I’d check around here to see what others might offer as a choice.
