Bulk seed for food plots around central Wisconsin.

Discount Prices on Archery Supplies on Amazon.com

Any of my fellow ATers know where I can get some bulk seed for this years food plots ? I know I can get a better deal than the prepackaged name brands, just having a hard time pinning down where to get some. I’ve checked a couple feed mills, but they’re pushing the bagged varieties too. Anywhere in the central Wisconsin area would work. I have about 6 acres to plant, I’m thinking about 2 acres each of clover/chicory mix, soybeans, and brassicas. I would go completely broke if I were to buy all that in the name-brands. One of the feed mills I stopped at said I’d need between 150 and 200 pounds of soybean seed for 2 acres. At $ 99 per 50lb bag.

1st time food plot advice

Discount Prices on Archery Supplies on Amazon.com

After having access to a suburbian business complex that holds a good amount of deer in the area. I got permission and decided it was time to give these deer something else besides hitting the flower beds at night and having no other need to be on the Business complex. The small plating area is on a overgrown path that that is used by the deer at morning and night but always seems to be hit or miss how often they use it. It’s part of a patch of thick stuff that is a few 100 yards long and about a 100yrds wide. My side of the patch has small lots on either side of the complex that I have gotten pics on my cam all times of the day during the Rut and been lucky enough to take 2 Small Bucks on the property. I haven’t gotten pics of the BIG Racks that I have seen boardering the complex. The food source is very poor except for flower beds near the buildings and the nicely landscaped blacktop walking paths around a lake on the property.

I have looked at the Sweetspot stuff and so far looks like the most promising. I also just seen a ad for the Roll out food plot. I have to do everything by hand. I removed a good amount of weeds and growth. Just have to hit it with some weed killer next. ANY advice will be helpful.

Thanks,
Rich

.this Buck was from last season.

Help with food plots!

Discount Prices on Archery Supplies on Amazon.com

Ok, first of all I’m very new to "food plotting". I’ve never planted anything, I’ve always just hunted and changed strategies throughout the year. My fiancĂ© loves to deer hunt and I’d like to plant her a few food plots that she can bow and gun hunt. I have aqquired a new farm this past season and it is setup perfect for food plots. I live in SC and I’m not real sure what to plant. I have a few spots that I want to make some smaller "bow" plots and some bigger "gun plots". I want to definitely plant some clover and whatever else, and also some turnips or something for late season. I plan on getting my soils tested to know how to prep the plots. Just looking for some ideas and what works best around the southeast. Also looking for the best places to buy seed without paying those high prices at sports stores with someone’s face on the bag. I also have another farm that I’ve hunted for years that’s not so ideal for plots. It’s mosly pines and cutover with a few hardwood draws running through it. The areas that I’d like to plant have a lot of red dirt. I was told I could use the Throw & Gro for that and it would grow there. I don’t mind using something like that for the few small places I have to plant there. Just curious as to what works better in shade, sun, etc. I appreciate any help! I’m very new to planting and just want to have fun with it and hopefully have some good hunting for my fiancĂ©, myself, and a few buddies. Thanks so much!
