Need help with arrows. Longer draw length #archery

Discount Prices on Archery Supplies Right Here

Just picked up a PSE Phenom XT about a month ago and I’m looking to get more arrows. Currently I’m only target shooting but eventually building up to hunting deer/turkey. I’m looking to get more arrows but not sure what to get. I’m shooting 70# at 31.5” (yes I’m tall) draw so I’m not sure what arrows to use with that setup. The arrows I’m using now are cut at 31”. I was looking at the draw length/arrow length/# chart for some arrows but none of them fit by setup.

I appreciate any help.

Draw weight #archery

As someone who doesn’t get much of any practice, fatigue has been kicking my butt. I’ve been very consistent after switching bows in January. Been shooting a 298-299 Vegas every time out but groups just too big to get many x’s. Shot only three 9’s in Lancaster and still didn’t make the cut. So finally after a consistent but disappointing 577 at nationals Saturday I decided to back my limbs out a bit and although I still struggled a bit the second half, I improved by 7 points the next day shooting my highest score in many years.

So the moral of the story here is before messing around with form or changing equipment don’t forget about that draw weight. I think draw weight is something people don’t pay enough attention to. Don’t struggle to shoot more weight it’s not worth it. It’s amazing what shedding just a couple lbs can do.

First photo is Saturday shooting typical 298 (notice the difference between first bottom left and last bottom right target) and second is Sunday after losing some weight and I shot almost like a machine and got a 300 outer 10.

Best Full Carbon Long Draw hunting bow? #archery

Discount Prices on Archery Supplies Right Here

I am a true 31.5" draw and have been shooting for quite some time but thought i would see what else is out there. I currently have the X-pedition Perfexion and was wondering what bow is quick in FPS, full carbon, LONG ATA and also fits the 31.5" draw length? preferably in a 70# draw?

Thanks!

Draw length too long and point of impact #archery

Discount Prices on Archery Supplies Right Here

I know this has to have been discussed on here but I could not find it in the search. Shooting spots with a hinge my set up has been fine 30.5” dl but yesterday at the first 3d of the season (my first with a hinge) I had trouble missing left for some reason. thought I was maybe pushing too hard with my bow hand hoping the shot would go off sooner (it was really windy) causing the left.

so my question

If your draw length is a touch too long would you be more susceptible to miss left? or am I just overthinking a bad day?

New release now draw length feels too short

Discount Prices on Archery Supplies Right Here

I recently had a Scott Exxus Core fail multiple times during my draw cycle. Since I’m right in the middle of deer season and needed a replacement fast I immediately went to a Carter Plain 1 that my brother had. I was able to practice with it for a week or so and was comfortable enough to hunt with. Now that more time has passed I’m noticing my pin float is fairly jerky which is what I hear is caused by too short of a draw length. When I compare the Exxus Core to the Plain 1 I can see that there is a very slight difference in the length of the jaws. Maybe 1/4" at best. Unfortunately this puts me between modules.

So my question is, what adjustments can easily be made to gain back 1/8" to 1/4" of draw length without swapping modules? And then, what effects will these adjustments have on the bow other than draw length?

Bow is a 14 Obsession Phoenix.

When changing DRaw weight do we have to adjust the rest afterwards?

Discount Prices on Archery Supplies Right Here

One of my good buddies is setting up his bow, they had it set at 70lbs but he wants to back it down to about 65 lbs, do we need to move his rest and re paper tune and everything or will it still be about the same tuning wise? The arrows he had were under spine (can’t think of the arrow right now) but they should be pretty close at 65lbs.

Hoyt Z5/Turbo Cam Draw Stop Mod

Discount Prices on Archery Supplies Right Here

Rubber sleeve on the bottom cam draw stop peg was getting worn, and I was noticing a difference in wall firmness and timing. I decided to remove to rubber sleeve and re-timed the cams. With the rubber off I was able to fine tune the timing, getting that perfect top cam advancement. Wall is rock solid now. The rubber hotdog on the top cam mod is also removed. Anyone else tried this? I’m shooting a 2015 Hoyt carbon spyder zt turbo, #3 cam at 29.5 inch draw 73-74 lbs draw weight. I know ontarget7 posted up awhile back about experimenting with a spiral cam draw stop peg, but hadn’t heard any definitive answer. So far the stock peg with the rubber removed seems to open up a lot more flexibility with respect to tuning, and definitely stiffened up that backwall. Looking to hear others feedback or experiences with this mod. Thanks!
