Best Deer Cart: Hawk Crawler, Rack Packer, Versacart, other……? #archery

Discount Prices on Archery Supplies Right Here

Looking at getting a deer cart to help carry out deer because I almost had a stroke dragging out a medium sized buck this year. Tried a pulling harness, stick and rope, and pulling from the horns. I know that the Hawk Crawler, Rack Packer, and Versacart are very popular. I’m sure that there are others. Lets say that money isn’t an object.

What is the best cart out there?

Evening deer problems #archery

Just got permission on 42 acres to do what i want on as far as hunting and improvements. This is the situation the land was virtually clear cut with some Oaks and beech trees left over grown fields and a power line through it. Was cut 4 or 5 years ago so you know how thick it is. Deer trails every where’s. So here is the problem I have been hunting it for the past three days i see deer up till 10:30 11 in the morning after that it’s a ghost town. I was hoping that as thick as the cover is the deer would bed there for the day before coming out in the power line and heading to a large oak ridge that is across the creek from there. Im just wondering why im not seeing anything in the evenings just a puzzle for me

Help my age this deer #archery

Usually I don’t have an issue doing this but this guys rack doesn’t fit what the body tells me and what I know. He has much smaller body than other deer in the area and never has had much of a swollen neck either.

I believe I have/had this guy on camera for 3 years. First year… I left the camera up with the original SD card that had pictures of him and then the place burned down so don’t have the pictures for that year.

2016. Small/similar body to 2017/2018. Rack was hard to tell what he was as he was broken but similar beams to 2016. Had longer G2’s, a busted G3 on one side and at least 1 broken point on the other. Going off memory but at least 90% sure it was the same deer as it had very similar beam mass, shape and width. Only deer in the area with these wide sweeping beams.

2017. Maybe gained a point? Hard tell because he was busted previous year. There was a really bad draught the 2016-2017 winter and then the whole region burned spring of 2017 so he probably didn’t have great forage.

2018. Gained more points. Body about the same so far but a touch better. Lots of rain and good forage this year. Comparing him to the feeder head puts him at about 24.5" outside width. Feeder from bottom to where it meets the PVC is 24" and measuring him and comparing put him slightly wider than 24". Camera about 7 yards away so it should negate any perspective angle illusions.

Now going over it, he had to be a minimum of 2.5 in 2016. I personally guessed him at 3.5 in 2016 based on pictures. Using 2.5/3.5 puts him a minimum 5.5/6.5 this year.

Here’s what gets me. I see his pictures this year and keep thinking that’s a 3.5 or possibly a 2.5 with great genetics but I don’t see 5.5 or 6.5. He is much smaller bodied than other 3.5 to 4.5 deer around. What do you guys see?

Don’t give up on a shoulder hit deer #archery

Discount Prices on Archery Supplies Right Here

I hit a very large mature 9 point in the shoulder last night. The shot looked great however was actually a touch forward. I hit him square in front shoulder. I was using a prime rise at 65lb 29.5 inch draw, beeman ics Hunter, magnus stinger 100 grain arrow. I recovered the arrow after couple feet. Shot was at 39 yards. There was about 4 inches penetration.bllod trail was very heavy at first. The trail was a little light after first 300 yards or so.then get very heavy. Found several areas where he bedded down. After finding this we almost pulled out came back this morning. We did the unthinkable and keep going even though we had to leave the bow’s at the truck. 2 hours later and about a mile later we caught up to him. He was very weak and made few steps and fell, got back up and fell again. 20 mins later he died. I field dressed him and discovered the broad head never pierced the chest cavity. There was several times where the blood trail got very hard right after he would bed down. Then just pour blood we chose to keep pushing because of this to keep the blood flowing. Don’t give up and assume it will live. Now 99 times out 100 I would have pulled out cane back the next day but I believe had we left him last night he would have clotted and never would have found him.

Looking for Info on Axis Deer Hunting on Lana’i #archery

Discount Prices on Archery Supplies Right Here

I live on Oahu and am seriously looking to get tags and fly over to do some hunting. Looking for someone who has hunted over there before or is local.

I’m a pretty broke college student and am just wanting to know things like if there is super cheap car rentals. If I should just get tags and hunt on public land or should I look for private?
Can I bring the meat back to Oahu? What should I bring with me, like Coolers or if I’ll need a tent for camping on Polihua Beach?

As much info as possible would be great.
