The Real Cool Thing About Aiming Instinctively

Discount Prices on Archery Supplies on Amazon.com

Gentlefolk…after recently selling Zeus…my only ILF 68"/28# target/form rig…(due to a recent bout of financial hardship?)…it was decided long before I boxed up Zeus that my 32# Falco Force D-Longbow was indeed next in line to become my "Form Practice Rig" as I now have but (3) primary bows left…(and a 42# selfbow that may be sold soon as it’s 42#s is more than I wish to deal with and just don’t shoot it anymore)…but as I focused all my attention on the Falco these past few days?…I did all I could do to "Make" this bow shoot well 3-under…cause that’s how I shoot my other two bows…My 64"/37# Bear Super Kodiak and my 64"/37# Bushman R/D Longbow…and both of those bows respond very well to 3under…I think the Bear SK does simply because of it’s massive 3pc Bubinga riser and the Bushmen R/D Longbow responds well to 3under because the bowyer did some extensive tuning/tillering work to the bow to make it so…but alas…try as I might….(so that all three primary bows shoot 3under)….the Falco Force seems factory tuned for "Split"…as this is what I encountered despite jocking the string nocking point…

When Shot 3-Under: It seems I get amplified (if not excessive) after-shot upper limb tip "roll-back" along with an elevated level of shock related noise.

When Shot Split-Finger: The bow exhibits just a slight straight forward jump with the upper limb tip rolling back only a few inches and whisper quiet despite the lack of string silencers…where literally the only thing I hear?…is string and feather slicing air.

So…it’s pretty much a no-brainer which way I should shoot this Falco Force D-Longbow…I even beat myself up figuring it was a major blunder on my part to not have ordered this Custom Spec’ed Falco to be tillered for 3-Under…but as I went back and forth several times between 3under and split-finger over the past few days?…and each time I did?…I’d move up to 10yds to re-acclimate myself to the two very different POI’s?…

Within 2-3 shots I was zeroed right back in…and sometimes less….as I began to grow accustomed to shooting the bow both ways…which soon came with ease…sometimes I was in fact zeroed on shot #1….and I found this extremely interesting….hence the title of this thread…

"The Real Cool Thing About Aiming Instinctively"

and I no longer have any quams regarding owning and shooting 3 primary bows…two of which I shoot 3-under and one of which gets shot split-finger…an loving it. :)

Have a Blessed Sunday and L8R, Bill. :cool2:
