Cold weather snacks #archery

Lets hear what you like to bring for those really cold (blow 20 degrees) and long sits. I’ve noticed that when it’s really cold most of my normal snacks become unappealing.

Cold weather Boot Recommendation #archery

Discount Prices on Archery Supplies Right Here

Looking for a boot that hikes well but also has some insulation for stand sits. Most of my hunting locations are a mile or more hike in mountain type terrain. Not uncommon for temperatures to be in the 20s and lower. I have multiple pair of rubber boots, I’m looking for more of a leather type boot. Thanks!

QAD Ultra Rest Hunter – Cold weather issues #archery

Discount Prices on Archery Supplies Right Here

I have tried 2 QAD drop away rests over the last 5 years and both have had issues once the weather drops below freezing with not dropping away either far enough or quickly enough to avoid fletching contact in hunting situations. I really like how these rests shoot for target, 3D and early season hunting, but I have no confidence once the mercury drops below 32 deg F. Is this a common problem with these rests or are their "fixes’ to make them more dependable in colder weather? I’m back to an old NAP QT800 prong rest on my Hoyt Charger due to no confidence in the drop away designs. Seems like drop away technology has been around long enough and QAD seems to be a leader for this to be a non-issue. Please advise…

Cold weather down apparel for running and gunning #archery

Discount Prices on Archery Supplies Right Here

What brand jackets and pants are you run and gun guys bringing in the field for your hang and hunts in cold weather? Not looking to spend money on a Sitka or First Lite system. Preferably a down material jacket and pants that can pack down well for limiting space and weight for travel. Have not been able to find much for the whitetail guy in these specs.

Extreme Cold and Bow Function #archery

Discount Prices on Archery Supplies Right Here

Hey guys,

going on a Musk ox hunt in march and expecting -20 and -30f weather. My bow will probably stay away from heat for a few days. I’m thinking not bringing it into camp might prevent condensation. Also thinking of bringing it down from 70 to 65lbs and tapping the handle on my BTX31. Any other tips for avoid malfunctions (mechanical parts, limbs, rest ect)? Cold weather advice and stories welcome

Have to finalize set up but it should look something like this:

Bowtech BTX31
27" dl @65lbs
Easton FMJ 5mm 340’s
100gr montec
Scott Release
Spott Hog 5 pin
QAD Hdx
Tightspot 5 arrow quiver

Sitka Fanatic Hoodie vs Traverse Cold Weather Hoodie

Discount Prices on Archery Supplies Right Here

Trying to decide between these two. I know the Traverse does not come in EVII….wish it did but probably not a deal killer.

I plan to use this as an outer layer in early season and then as a layer piece under my Stratus once it gets colder. I will also wear this on coyote hunts and then turkey hunts in the spring.

I am thinking the Traverse may be too warm for Spring turkey hunts. Thoughts?

– Can you wear the facemasks on these without the hoodie being up?

– Would the Traverse be too bulky if I layer with merino base then the Traverse under my Stratus?

Anyone prefer one over the other?
