Choosing First Bow #archery

Discount Prices on Archery Supplies Right Here

Hey guys I’m new to the group and fairly new to Bow Hunting. I have shot a few different bows in the past year or two and I’m somewhat proficient with my archery skills as of now. I have a old York Bushwhacker set to 60# at around 29" draw length, I’m looking to upgrade and buy the bow I plan to use hunting next season. I have looked around at several manufacturers and several different bows from each. I’m on the fence between the PSE STINGER or the BEAR SPECIES. I would really like to get a bow that is highly adjustable as far as draw weight and draw length so that I can pass it down to my son and he can grow with it as he gets older. I myself sit comfortable with 60# of draw around a 28-29" draw. I would appreciate any input and advise you guys have.

Switching from FMJ to Axis? Brass inserts? Need help choosing spine.

Discount Prices on Archery Supplies Right Here

I’m gonna try the axis arrows as my new hunting arrows. I’m wanting to try the hit brass inserts (either 50 r 75 grains) to make up for the wieght diff between the two arrows. I like a hard hitting arrow, just don’t like the bending of the FMJ’s. I shoot a Mathews z7 at 68lbs with a 27" 400 spine FMJ arrow and a 100grain swacker. What spine would I need in the axis when adding a 50 r 75 grain insert?

New To Archery – Choosing My First Bow(Have Few Questions)

Discount Prices on Archery Supplies Right Here

Hi!

Yesterday I went to an archery place and tried some shooting – was really fun and decided to buy a bow and learn some shooting. I’m 25 years old 6"3 – 220~ pounds.

I’m looking to buy an affordable bow to start shooting. I’m not looking to hunt, just to shoot at targets and have fun with it.

I did some research and found out that i need 29"~ Draw Lenght(is my research accurate?) and 55lb draw weight. I’m not sure about the weight yet, seems to high for non trained arm, I probably need something like 30-40 and then increase it as i get stronger(does that make sense?).

So I’m looking for a bow, went to few pawn shops and checked out the craigslist. My budget is 100-150~ might go to 200 if that’s what it takes.

Here’s what i found so far:

1. http://chicago.craigslist.org/wcl/spo/3845114432.html
I really like this one, seems affordable and comes with arrows.
2. http://chicago.craigslist.org/nwi/spo/3828622703.html
This one is nice too, comes with all bells and visles.
3. http://chicago.craigslist.org/nwc/spo/3836549330.html
4. http://chicago.craigslist.org/chc/spo/3816223069.html
5. http://chicago.craigslist.org/nch/spo/3832815818.html
6. http://chicago.craigslist.org/nwc/spo/3831148067.html

These are the ones I found, all others were $ 500+ and I’m not going to pay for a bow that much(at least right now.

Few questions i have regards to these bows(and in general):

1. bow #1 and bow #5 is quite different. I mean the first one looks older? or it’s just a different model? the #5 looks like it has more stuff on it and the model/shape is different. What’s the difference between those? Which I’m better off?

2. What should I be aware of when buying a bow from people? should i check for some damage? or something might not be working properly?

3. I know most of bow draw weight and length and be adjusted, but how hard is it to do that? what should it cost if i wanted to adjust it?(rough guesstimate is fine)

4. Any bows you would recommend? Anything else you could advise?

Looking forward to my first bow!

Thanks in advance.
