Help with arrow build #archery

Discount Prices on Archery Supplies Right Here

I need to start off by saying that I am not curious about any other brands, I just need advice for Carbon Express arrows.

I have a 30" DL and pull 80#, I am looking at building a new hunting arrow and would like to be at a minimum of 11% FOC.

Right now my arrows set up is a Black Eagle Rampage .250, I use the stainless steel outsert at 56 grains, and a 100 grain broadhead, 6" wrap, 3 AAE Max stealth vanes and a nockturnal nock.

Things I need to keep on the arrow: the wrap and the lighted nock, and 100 grain tips. My total arrow weight right now is about 550 total arrow weight (if I remember correctly)

So what do I need to do in order to get the same setup in a carbon express?

Thanks!!

Black Eagle Spartan build? #archery

Discount Prices on Archery Supplies Right Here

I’m looking to go with Spartan arrows this year. I don’t have the OT2 program yet. Was hoping somebody would be willing to run some numbers for me.

This will be for hunting and I use fixed blade heads.

I have a Prodigy; 70#, 28" draw, comfort & classic setting (so IBO either 330 or 337/8), have 2 monkey tails, tie-in nock set, and d-loop on string.

The arrow I’m looking at;
Spartan 250
29" carbon-to-carbon cut
Spartan SS R-Nock Bushing
Easton X Nock
5" Reflective Wrap
3 Flex Fletch FFP 360 vanes
Spartan 26gr SS Insert
75gr or 30gr weight added
100gr tip

New arrow build worked out great! #archery

Bow, Nitrum Turbo 65/28

Old arrows were Gold Tip Velocity XT 340’s 27.25" with 100gr tip. Total weight 370gr. Shot 308fps
New arrows are Gold Tip Velocity XT 300’s 27.25" with 100gr tip and 40gr FACT weight. Total weight 426gr. Shot 290fps

I accomplished exactly what I set out to do: heavier arrows for hunting, higher FOC (10.3% to 14.6%), 6.55gr per inch arrow weight, speed around 285fps. And these arrows with the higher FOC group better out to 60 yards. Didn’t shoot further than that because I have to dial it in for the new sight tape.

Build me a 19%+ FOC hunting arrow/broadhead combo #archery

Discount Prices on Archery Supplies Right Here

List the components you would use to build a 19% or more FOC arrow/broadhead combo. I would like the arrow to be between 500gr and 700gr.

60# Compound bow, 28 inch minimum arrow, at least 4" wrap, Could be vanes or feathers, must include a lighted nock.

Which Arrow shaft?
which Insert?
which Vanes/Feathers?
Which Broadhead?

I’ve been messing with this for a few hours and it is more difficult than I thought but I think some of you arrow gurus can help me out. I’ve come up with a couple options but I want to see what you guys come up with. I’ve been using the gold tip FOC calculator. https://www.goldtip.com/Resources/Ca…alculator.aspx

Thanks

Fun little project, it didn’t turn out perfect but I think it’ll be great to take the kids. I started with a 5×8 foot pallet, 3 cattle panels, tarp, and erosin control matting. I work on a loading dock and got the pallet and wood free. Total investment $ 150. There tons of build plans online. Can’t wait to get it on my food plot.

Thoughts of my arrow build #archery

Discount Prices on Archery Supplies Right Here

Hello,

After reseaching the archives for a few days now I’m putting together a hunting arrow for new bow. Im pretty new to building arrows. Until now I have just been buying goldtip velocities and adding a broadhead. The bows is an obsession defcon m6 28dl and I’m guessing 62lbs dw (maxed 60lbs limbs).

The arrow I’m looking at is a BE spartan with a 75gr insert and 100gr broadhead. The stats for this arrow cut at 28in would be weight 462gr, fps 277, ke 78.733, and foc of 16%. Does this sound like a good general hunting arrow for elk, deer, antelope, and maybe a black bear if it crossed my path?

I really appreciate any help, comments, and recomendations. Thanks in advance

Target Range Build Part 2…well, 1-1/2 #archery

Discount Prices on Archery Supplies Right Here

Damned rain! I tried to do as much as possible today with the roof, but I’ll have to wait until a better day…and have a helping hand. I could probably horse it up myself, but setting it and installing it correctly looks to be a pain.

Just like last week, I laid out all my materials (so I thought):

The front and rear 2"x4"’s are cut to 6′, as that’s the OD of the vertical posts. The sides are 6′ 6", as the roof panels are 6′ 7" and I wanted some overlap front and back without having to trim them. I made sure they were square and attached them with 3" wood screws.

2-1/2′ from the front, I installed a 6′ long crossmember.

I laid the roofing panels out, but my math was off and two were not enough to cover. Went back to Home Depot and found out that A- they were/are on clearance and discontinued; and B- they showed 21 left in inventory but could not find them. Well, they had 69 at the New Freedom, PA store. Thank God for smartphones and the Internet. Lowe’s had them. All of two. But I only needed one lol.

Came and laid them out, drilled pilot holes and installed the panels with the appropriate screws with rubber washers to prevent leakage.

I also cut two small blocks out of a 2"x4", with a ten degree slope so the roof is just slightly canted for drainage, but should not catch that much wind (didn’t take a pic of that but will when it’s time to hump the roof out to the target range). Once I have the roof balanced on those blocks and set in place, I’ll drill the pilot holes and install with 5/16" lag screws, then cut two brackets out of 2"x4"’s to install between the sides and the vertical posts to the rear of the 4"x4" posts.

It’s taken and is still taking some time, but it will be nice when it’s finished. No more wet and faded targets.
