Best Arrows to use with a whisker bisquit (That don’t wear it out as fast)

Discount Prices on Archery Supplies Right Here

Currently I am shooting PSE Carbon Force Radial X Weave Silent Hunter 200’s and I think they have 125 gr pts not 100% sure w/ 2" blazers. Out of a Bear Charge Set to roughly 60lb (Will be checking with a draw lb puller today) and 27" draw as set on my Cam. I use a D Loop and a Wrist Trigger release. Proline String.

Heres the issue’s:

1) The finish on them doesn’t seem rough but they seem to burn the bottom of the whisker (the black whiskers). Almost like the arrow has slightly abrasive action to the whisker, the arrow diameter is .292.

2)I got them cut when I knew nothing about archery and just bought a used bow, I now am far more comfortable with a 27" draw and not a 26". The arrows were cut to 26 1/2" and at full draw the field point is only at the front of the riser, I believe for safety reasons they should be at least 1" past the riser??

3) These were on the Fast end for 60 lb draw, Thats what I am shooting roughly 60 lb but I want to move into 60-65lb range and think a heavier arrow may be more forgiving.

4)Should I be using straight 2" vanes or helical 2" vanes or should I go to 4" vanes straight or helical. Other than the helical vanes stabilizing the arrows in flight better than straight vanes what is the difference between 2" or 4"?

5) With a whisker bisquit should I be shooting a lower profile vane than a blazer?

Thanks for any help fellas.

Greatly look forward to getting a response.

Footrest are great for long sits. Who makes the best footrest for climbing stands and what makes theirs better than the others. How much do they cost? how much do they weigh? Pictures or links to their site would be nice.

Best pin color for ASA/3D

Discount Prices on Archery Supplies Right Here

Currently using a .19 blue pin with CBE scope, Elite 3D and LP Pro light. I have to use the light on high when shooting outdoors and I still lose the pin on white targets. Indoors it’s not as bad and I do have to turn the light down indoors. Looking for opinions as to what color pin seems to work best for most.

Also, in shooting an ASA course, are there any white targets? I can’t remember where I saw a listing of the targets used?

Thanks for the help.

Best Bow (An Idea For A Fun Thread)

Discount Prices on Archery Supplies Right Here

I participate on a very large custom knife forum

Every year over the Holidays – X Mas to the new year they host a Best Bowie Thread

The greatest makers in the world participate and the Bowies that are entered vary from gold inlaid , engraved , ivory masterpieces to pure forms of function.

This garners a huge turn out and is anxiously awaited by the biggest collectors and makers in the world

The op that hosts this on test every year starts with a nomination thread

You number your entry’s and after an allotted time the entry’s are stopped and everyone nominates up to 5 knives

Than the top 5 nominations are set into a poll on a different thread and after an allotted time the winner is selected

I have been fortunate to have had some pieces from my collection and more importantly helped design make the top 5 on a few occasions

The criteria was hat the knife had to of been acquired by the owner in the current year

The first year his contest was started it was open all comers

Here are examples of the past two years

2011

2011 finalist

2012

Finalist 2012

http://www.bladeforums.com/forums/sh…est+Bowie+2012

My thought is this

Being that this time of year is a bit slow for hunting except turkey I thought if the other members where interested we old have a Best Bow Contest

It would be open to all entry’s from the most gorgeous customs to the most purpose built performance bow

I can see where some would vote or a piece of art like a Blacktail or a jacked up performance ILF rig …… All comers welcome

What are your thoughts ?

Could be fun and maybe like in the Bowie competition it could turn into a real feather in the cap for makers and owners alike

So what do you think Archery Talks Annual Best Bow Thread ?

Best elk day pack if you don’t have to carry meat

Discount Prices on Archery Supplies Right Here

I am going on a SW Colorado archery elk hunt this September and am looking for a great day pack to go with. The place I am going with will have mules to pack the elk out with so large capacity meat hauling won’t be an issue. What packs would you recomend. I did look at the Tenzing 1250 and it looked pretty good, and so did the eberlestock X2. I do like the fact it has a place for a spotting scope and little tripod to do a little digiscoping.
