Fred bear recurves quality?

Discount Prices on Archery Supplies on Amazon.com

Is it common for recurve bow to brake like this after only 5 years, I see some 1960s 1970s bows that are still shooting well and here are pictures of my 2009 fred bear grizzly 60#. I have taken good care of the bow, kept it unstrung, always used stringer, never twisted limbs, kept it stored in room temperature and I haven’t shoot it that much.
I was at full draw when the bottom limb cracked. Unfortunately I am on market for new bow and I do like bear bows but I have doubts about their quality. Also I have called bear customer service and it was funny because answer that I got from them is: Well its made out of wood, so you never know! 2014-01-14_19-16-51_818.jpg2014-01-14_19-15-23_159.jpg2014-01-14_19-20-31_414.jpg

Going out Saturday for my first bear (and bow) hunt!

Discount Prices on Archery Supplies on Amazon.com

Super excited. First time in the woods with my bow and going after a bear. Couple experienced friends are going too. Not sure who’ll get the shot…rock, paper, scissors I guess…lol…it’ll be sweet if we get one though…no matter who takes the shot. Pointless thread I guess, just wanted to let someone know since most of the other friends don’t hunt so they probably wouldn’t understand or care.

Arrow weight for hunting hogs, deer and bear

Discount Prices on Archery Supplies on Amazon.com

Hey Guys I’m looking for advice on setting up arrows for hunting hogs, deer and black bear. I’m shooting a Bear Super Kodiak 50 lb. My draw length is 28 inches. My current arrows are Victory Vforce 500, 4 inch feathers with brass inserts and 125gr points. Total arrow weight is 400 grains. They shoot / fly great, If I do my part I can keep my groups the size of a pie pan at 30 yards.

I’ve been doing a lot of research and reading Dr. Ed Ashbys recommendations on total arrow weight and FOC. I believe I should have a total arrow weight of 500 grains or more. I need advice on arrows, spine weight, broadheads and total arrow weight. Also should I use 4 or 5 inch feathers?

Thank you for any advice with my endeavor

Patrick

Bear Kodiak hunter recurves

Discount Prices on Archery Supplies on Amazon.com

What are some of the differences in the Kodiak hunter and what makes some more valuable than others.

I have two both 60" 45# one is a 1968 the other 1969 the ’68 has green color limbs and white color near the handle, the ’69 has gray color limbs and darker color near the handle. Both have the same color bear coins, very little signs of wear and are in very good condition.

Are the different color limbs because of different years?

Any information would be great.

Thanks
