Got a little extra cash for some new gear. For late treestand hunting, and I carry all my outer clothes in and get dressed in my stand, which do you think?? Kuiu Axis Hybrid or the Sitka Fanatic??

Assuming the same core layers. And I don’t hunt in the rain.

OK, I spent the majority of the day yesterday setting up my new Site and scope for my target set-up. Here’s what I learned….please correct me where I’m wrong!

OK, 1st Axis is the forward and back tilt/rotation of the site’s elevation bar:

Most sites don’t have an adjustment for this and to be honest, errors won’t be significant since your site settings will correct for this. I supposed you’d have to add shims to correct for this. Most instructional articles and videos just just touch on what this axis is and just move on. Not being perfectly level in the 1st axis WILL NOT COST YOU ANY LEFT/RIGHT ERRORS.

2nd Axis: THIS IS THE CRITICAL ONE, especially if you have an adjustable site that moves up and down an elevation bar (ie. a target archer). It’s the left and right tilt of your elevation bar.

Although most modern sites have an adjustment screw(s) for "2nd axis" of the scope, it’s the ELEVATION BAR that needs to be made level to the bow riser. You can use your site’s 2nd axis adjustment to make the scope bubble perfectly centered and perpendicular to the riser, but if your elevation bar isn’t level, as you move the scope up or down that bubble will move from left to right or vice versa depending on which way your elevation bar is tilted. So I leveled the elevation bar first, then set the scope tilt and I verified the level elevation bar by comparing the bubble position in the high and low extreme positions of the scope along the site elevation bar.

If your elevation bar is not level, this will CAUSE NOTICEABLE ERRORS IN LEFT AND RIGHT IMPACT as you go from short to long distances. This is why your left-right arrow rest position (ie. walk back tuning) is set WITHOUT MOVING THE SITE.

3rd Axis: not significant for target shooters who shoot targets on a level surface. Significant only when there are big changes in the up and down tilting of your bow such as when shooting up or downhill on a field or 3D course.

You can set this by watching your bubble level with a level on your riser and see if it changes when drawing your bow on a level shot and then a downward shot. You can do this upward too, but it’s more risking if you’re doing this in your backyard!!

Anybody have some experience with this jacket. Can’t find many reviews on it.

I’m ordering some new arrows. Looking at the Axis. I want a 420-440 grain finished. Would the better build be a 100g point with a 50gr insert or standard inserts with a 125g head? One comes in around 425 and the other 440ish. Will be hunting everything with this arrow. Thanks in advance

I wanted to try the easton axis but i dont really want to use the hit inserts. plus they only go up to 75 grains. are there any outserts or inserts that are 100 grain that would fit the axis arrows? i know gold tip has 100 grain brass inserts but not sure they fit or what else is out there. thx

Hey all, wanted some insight before I made the purchase on a dozen Axis arrows. I have a 27.5" draw with 60lbs of DW. Running 26" arrows with a lighted nock (20 gr) in the rear. What spine would I need with a standard insert at 16 grains and which would I need with 50 gr of brass up front? Thanks everyone!

Alright gear junkies who has picked a pair of the axis pants. These look pretty sweet. I had been looking for something to bridge the gap between my timberlines and guide pants. These look like the answer. Looking for something a little warmer and wind resistant than the guides and timberlines. If you have picked up any of the new offerings let me know

I live on Oahu and am seriously looking to get tags and fly over to do some hunting. Looking for someone who has hunted over there before or is local.

I’m a pretty broke college student and am just wanting to know things like if there is super cheap car rentals. If I should just get tags and hunt on public land or should I look for private?
Can I bring the meat back to Oahu? What should I bring with me, like Coolers or if I’ll need a tent for camping on Polihua Beach?

As much info as possible would be great.
