Arrow spine question #archery

Discount Prices on Archery Supplies on Amazon.com

I shoot 70# with 30 in. Draw length. Currently shooting gold tip hunter 300 spine 30.25 in. Finished arrow length. 100 grain heads make the total weight 430gr. I have a backup bow that is similar specs and I shoot the same arrows out of both bows. I really only want one arrow for all my bows to keep it simple. I just bought a used bow with a very short ATA length as another back up. This new used backup maxes out at 60#. I don’t want to buy new arrows for this bow if I don’t need to. Is it OK to be way overspined or will it cause problems? I can shoot 20 yards in my basement and it is hitting where I want. Will it cause accuracy issues at longer distance?

Elk Arrow Dilemma #archery

Discount Prices on Archery Supplies on Amazon.com

I am trying to decide on what arrow to use for my September elk hunt. I am shooting a Mathews Halon 32, 29" draw and pulling about 72 lbs. Here are the 2 arrows I have been considering:

Easton Deep Six FMJ 340……470 grains, 282 fps, 83 ft. lbs of KE, .588 Slugs momentum and FOC 10%

Easton Axis 300 (50 grains of brass up front)……492 grains, 278 fps, 84.4 ft. lbs of KE, .607 slugs momentum and 13.27 FOC

All the statistics point to the Axis for my setup but after quite a few shooting sessions the FMJs group better. What should I do? Go with the FMJs and not worry about the rest or try more tweaking to get the axis to fly better? I haven’t paper tuned to the axis arrows….could that be it? Any help would be appreciated!

Archery | Team Event: Last Arrow Pierces U.S. Hope for Gold

Discount Prices on Archery Supplies on Amazon.com

LONDON – The United States men’s archery team experienced both ends of the Olympics’ emotional spectrum Saturday. First, the Americans were euphoric after scoring a convincing upset of world power South Korea in the semifinals at Lord’s Cricket Ground. About an hour later, they were crushed in the gold medal match when Italy beat them by a single point on the final arrow of the competition. While a silver medal is hardly disappointing, the manner in which the United States lost was brutal. After scoring 27 points in their final end to cut their deficit to 1, the Americans watched as Italy scored 17 points on the first two arrows of its last series. If the final Italian archer, Michele Frangilli, scored 8 points, the United States would win outright; if he scored 9, the match would be tied; and if he scored 10, the Italians would win the gold medal after losing it four years ago on a similar last-arrow shot.

Easton arrow help?? #archery

Discount Prices on Archery Supplies on Amazon.com

I’m thinking of trying the Easton Bowfire arrows with my new to me bow. It is an Energy 32 with a 26.5 " draw length at 68# with a 100 grain head. I’m speculating the arrows to be around 26" in length. Will I need to order a 400 spline for that? Thanks

Arrow choice for indoor target #archery

Discount Prices on Archery Supplies on Amazon.com

I ordered 6 Easton Fatboy carbon arrows and 6 Easton 2314 aluminum arrows for indoor target shooting. I want to try out both arrows to see which I like better. That said, what is the preferred arrow material for indoor target shooting? What is the preferred fletching material: vanes or feathers? Should I have them fletched straight, offset, or helical? What are the pros and cons of each option? Thanks in advance for your input!
