Golden Eagle Limb Mishap #archery

Discount Prices on Archery Supplies Right Here

I am a Golden Eagle Archery bow collector and started shooting them back in 1984. A few days ago I was shooting a 1986 Falcon cam bow with recurved limbs. I had not shot this bow but just a few shots prior to this and was getting it ready for deer season. I had fired 23 shots and was getting ready to nock my last arrow when I heard a "snap". I looked at the upper limb and on one side of where the cam is the lamination split down the limb about four inches. Thankfully it was in a relaxed position when it happened.

Anyway, I was pretty sick about it because I was really looking forward to hunting with this bow this year. I have another Falcon cam bow with strait limbs that I’ll probably get ready to use. But, I found someone on ebay that has a pair of limbs that are marked as Falcons! I have two questions though that I need help with. When I took apart my damaged limb there was a red sticker underneath that listed the manufacture date and also another number above the date. One limb had the number 242.5 and the other limb had the number 241.5. I’m just wondering what these numbers mean.

Also, each of my limbs have a pair of holes that a separate plastic piece with knobs that fits in the rise align with. The limbs that are on ebay have 2 pair of those holes per limb. I’ve tried to get the seller to take a couple measurments for me to make sure they will fit but can’t get a good response from them.

So, I’m looking for someone knowledgeable about GE bows who can tell me what the numbers mean, if they have to match the numbers on the limbs on ebay, and why there are two alignment holes on mine and four on the ebay set. I can see on the set on ebay that they are also dated as being made in 1986, the same as mine, so that’s encouraging.

Thanks for any help anyone can provide. I’d love to rebuild this bow and continue to use it if possible.

John Eberhart vs . Dan Infalt #archery

Discount Prices on Archery Supplies Right Here

Down south hunting podcast has a excellent 3 part series on scent control . The first series they are interviewing eberhart and infalt . I gotta say i respect Mr. Eberhart he’s killed some nice deer but his take on scent loc and scent control I just gotta shake my head. he dont play the wind he just hunts. I think he may of got a pretty good endorsement deal from scent loc. The science says that scent loc doesn’t work as good as he seems to say it does. I’m just not buying his tactics but if it works for him that’s great. But to play zero attention to wind direction is insane to me. I think he was a bit disrespectful to infalt and His hunting tactics. It’s well worth a listen .

Help with online archers advantage program #archery

Discount Prices on Archery Supplies Right Here

When calculating your spine on online archers advantage program, what do you select for the release type? Tied loop or Jaws release?
I’m shooting with a thumb release with dloop.
I do not have the same result with tied loop and jaw release. One is showing optional spine and the other weak spine.
Thanks for your help.

Gulch Gear!!!! #archery

Discount Prices on Archery Supplies Right Here

Has anyone else heard of or tried Gulch Gear? It’s a new camo company out of Oregon. As of now it’s strictly warm weather gear but they are planning to create gear for all seasons. The gear is made in USA of imported materials, and they admit that, unlike some companies that keep the imported materials part a secret. Anyway they have 2 colors: Cross Cover Brown and Cross Cover Grey both look phenomenal. I own the Cross Cover Brown and love it. I own all kuiu gear and like this stuff just as much, and i have to.admit I like the gulch gear pattern a little better. Out here in California archery season is already here so I was able to try it out in actual hunting scenarios. I was highly pleased and not disappointed. Every deer I saw had no idea I was there, I even had a 3×3 stick his head in my stick blind and smell me before he knew what I was. On that note I couldn’t get a shot because he literally ran over the saddle into my blind before I could get an arrow nocked. Back to Gulch Gear, the material is very light weight, it’s made of toray same as kuiu, it’s highly breathable and dries quick, very quick. I think the biggest surprise was how quickly I’d blend and disappear into my surroundings (my hunting partner gave me that insight). The area I hunt has thick oak groves, pines groves, sage brush, and dry grasslands, and I was able to blend in every environment I hunt with one pattern with similar results. To me that was the biggest "Pro" to this gear. I’m not a professional bowhunter in any way, I’m not sponsored and probably never will be. I’m a tile contractor who loves the outdoors and loves to hunt. I tried this gear out and thought I’d post my opinion on it in case other people out there are looking for something different. They have a website, give it a look, it’s great gear in my opinion. www.gulchgear.com
I tried to add attachments but it won’t let me I’ll try in a later post.

New Archer-need opinions #archery

Discount Prices on Archery Supplies Right Here

Just got my first bow in over 10 years. Hoyt supertec with xt2000 limbs. Love going in the back yard and shooting, also going to hunt next year. I’ll have about 150 dollars this month to spend on whatever. Strings will need to be replaced before winter is up, but I plan on upgrading to a Hoyt Powermax in the spring. So should I spend that money on
A- Re string current bow and get more arrows
Or
B- Buy a samick sage recurve to play with
I’m torn, I want both and I don’t know what to do.
Also, thoughts on the powermax?
