We have a local outdoor trap and archery club that has been undergoing a major upgrade. I convinced the board that we should purchase some Pacific Bow Butts 48"x 31" targets and the stands. We only had the funds for 4 targets and last night the club got them set up. Due to the fact that we want to get a league started with only 4 targets, I suggested that we set them out at yardages of 20, 30, 40, 50. One of the board members who is barely an archer thought we should start at 10 and go to 40. I pushed for starting at 20 yards because I felt that with only 4 targets, 10 yards would be a waste for most guys and a 50 yard target would provide a challenge that would encourage everyone to stretch their ability and improve their skills. I could only be there long enough to help get flags set up for positioning each butt, but we set them out starting at 20 yards. The next morning I went to check on their placement and found that they were set at 10 to 40. I am not crying that I didn’t get my way, but the whole league thing is in my lap and I want to make a good range from what limited resources we have.

Give me your honest opinions. If you were looking for a new club and league to shoot with, would you rather go with 10-40 or 20-50? If I am thinking incorrectly, I want to hear from others. If I am correct, I would like the opinions of others so I may be able to convince the board to make a slight change. Don’t hold off if I am wrong in my thinking; it’s all about making the best use of what we have for now. Maybe later we can get another target, but for now we need to make the best use of what we have.

New Hamskea HHP #archery

Discount Prices on Archery Supplies Right Here

Had major issues with fletching contact on my QAD hunter that came with my bow (first bow and brand new archer). Was fun finally reading all the garbage reviews after the fact! It’s made me a bit paranoid and decided to pull the trigger on the microtune version of the Hamskea Hybrid Hunter Pro. Read a ton of good things on this board about it.

I shoot AAE max pro hunters and am worried about the high profile vanes making contact. I receive the rest in the mail later today but was just curious of ways to tweak it in case i see issues.

Hamskea states "The closer the chord is attached to the limb tip, the longer the rest will be in the up position. The farther the activation chord is attached from the limb tip the less time it will be in the up position."

They say i shouldn’t have issues but I’d like to make sure I fully understand the thought process a bit more. If I am having issues with the vanes hitting the rest before it can get down then I would want to reduce the time the rest was up, correct? aka attach point farther from tips and closer to pocket? This would make its travel downwards quicker? or am I getting this all wrong?

Thanks

Marsupial Gear Bino Pack – Review #archery

Discount Prices on Archery Supplies Right Here

Hey guys,
I finally found a binocular harness I really like and wanted to share my review with the forum because I feel a lot of people would benefit from this product. I purchased this online and am in no way affiliated with this company.

I bought the binocular pack (pictured below) and rangefinder case to go along

I got this in the mail and fell in love with the fit and quality of the product. It is very easy to get on and off. I just unsnap one of the buckles and it goes on nicely. It does not get hung up in clothing like some of the others I’ve used.

I gave it a test run over the last couple weeks turkey hunting. I have always used standard harnesses from bass pro and Cabela’s and have never been pleased whether in a tree stand or putting boots on the ground. Other models have always been in the way or caused unwanted noise for me. This bino pack fits the binoculars great and the magnet style flip down cover is quiet and so easy to do one handed. The magenetic closure convinced me to buy this product because I don’t like the zippers or other styles of competing products.

I removed my lens caps and obejective caps before the hunt because I didn’t feel like I needed that protection anymore and I was correct. It was effortless to get the Binos in and out. Even while leaving the cover open I was never worried that they would get damaged in any way. The pack was not restraining on my chest and never felt in the way, even with a turkey vest on crawling through the hardwoods. I have Shot my bow with it and it was not in the way of the string and didn’t bother me. When sitting down the pack does not move around or hang low towards the waist, so it is plenty comfy for treestand hunting. I kept the rangefinder case attached but never used the rangefinder. It does not add much weight And you hardly realize it is even there.

Anyways hopefully this helps someone looking for a new bino harness that is made in the USA. I am very happy with the product 5/5 stars.

How many of you elk hunters out there……………… #archery

Discount Prices on Archery Supplies Right Here

…………have hit an elk square in the shoulder and actually recovered the animal? I see a lot of debate over what broad head to use for elk. The fixed vs mechanical question comes is a common topic, along with broad head (and total arrow) weights.

I’m not sure there is any combination of broad head and arrow out there that can reliably punch through the shoulder of a big bull. I sure wouldn’t want to chance it, and that begs another question. If you place a reasonably heavy arrow (>400 grains) properly behind the shoulder, why wouldn’t a quality mechanical head like a Rage Trypan do the job just as effectively as a mechanical?
