How wide are the Realm series limbs? #archery

Discount Prices on Archery Supplies on Amazon.com

Anyone know what the measured width of the limbs on the Realms is? Just curious the limbs on my Reign 6 are 3/4 inch wide each and I’d like to know how others compare. I know Hoyt advertised their new bows have 3/4 inch wide limbs which are supposed to be wider than their past bows.

New Breed Cyborg tune chart: 2013-2015 #archery

Discount Prices on Archery Supplies on Amazon.com

Trying to find a tune chart or the specs on a New Breed Cyborg. It’s a 2013 bow, with 2015 cams on it….if that makes a difference.

Finally got it strung up today, and I thought it was 37" ATA, but this is sitting at 37.5". This is running the longest cam (EL I think) so I thought maybe it sits a bit longer with that cam. Don’t want to go assuming it’s wrong without checking the specs.

Found one chart from 2012, but for some reason its missing the details from the longest cam, its all just blank.

Would appreciate any help.

Thanks, Stu

Which Bow Would You Buy? #archery

Discount Prices on Archery Supplies on Amazon.com

I’m looking to upgrade my brother’s hunting bow this Christmas. I’m looking in the $ 300-$ 450 range for a ready to shoot, used setup. The bow that comes to mind immediately is a Switchback XT, but they tend to sell on the upper end of that range. What are some other bows that I should consider? I realize that the possibilities are really endless, but I’d like to get a bow in the same class as the Switchback XT if possible. Thanks!

Ol’ Man Mafia #archery

Discount Prices on Archery Supplies on Amazon.com

Figured I’d start a thread dedicated to Ol’ Man climbers. I’ve been climbing trees with one for around 20 years now. I just have the plain jane aluminum vision. It’s such an easy climber to pack, setup, and climb with. I’ve owned a LW, Summit, and others. Sure, there are fancier and “cooler” climbers out there but I️ prefer my trusty Ol’ Man and can sit all day during the rut with no problems. I️ am a little biased since I’m a MS hunter. Anybody else in the “family”?

Working on your own bow #archery

Discount Prices on Archery Supplies on Amazon.com

Anyone ever regret setting up a shop and working on your own Bow? I was talking with a friend the other day and his opinion (he’s a many time national champion) is you can never really get good without having your own set-up and learning to work on your own equipment. My opinion is it is financially a good investment (I have 3 kids shooting + wife) I know I was able to amortize the equipment in less than 1 year. I buy used bows and set them up (most times replace the strings foe $ 60) can’t even imagine spending $ 2,000 on a bow!
Love to hear your experience!

First release – Carter Evo & Sensation? #archery

Discount Prices on Archery Supplies on Amazon.com

I’ve been doing a huge amount of research, searching on AT, google searching and reading articles, watching videos on YouTube etc. I’ve just ordered my first bow (it’s a compound), and I’m trying to decide what release I am going to start with.

What I’ve learned most is that releases are a very personal thing.

After a lot of thought I think I might be best starting with some kind of back tension type release rather than a trigger release even though it will be more difficult. I assume it would be easier to learn now than possibly getting into some bad habits.

So my intention is to hunt eventually (Once I’m consistent and confident that I can make a good ethical shot. It would be mostly pigs and goats, a few rabbits perhaps, and if I can find somewhere to hunt them, some deer too eventually.

The idea I have at the moment is to get a release like the Carter Evolution, and when I’ve got it worked out and am shooting it consistently well at targets to then buy a Carter Sensation and practice with both, and then hunt with the Sensation since it sounds like a thumb trigger might be the more preferred option for hunting out of the two releases.

The reason for the Sensation is because my hunting will be spot and stalk so the release won’t just be clipped and hanging from a stationary bow as it might be in a blind or tree stand. I figure the open hook style would be more practical.

Does this make sense to those of you that are experienced? Given the price of releases I’d prefer to not make stupid decisions. I think the shop I go to carries both, so I can hopefully see if they fit my hand well before buying.

Look forward to hearing all your thoughts. Thanks in advance!
