2 person ladder stand advice

Discount Prices on Archery Supplies Right Here

I just finished my first turkey hunting season, now I am going to deer hunt with my bow but need a 2 person ladder stand. Reason for a ladder stand first is I want a 2 person to take my kid later on and since its on my property I don’t need to worry about moving it around all time. I will get a hang on later on but I want to focus on the ladder stand first.

Any good suggestions for 2 person ladder stand? I have been eyeing the Muddy Prestige 2 person.
Thanks

Any advice on mechanical broadheads?

Discount Prices on Archery Supplies Right Here

Hoping someone can help steer me in the right direction here. I’ve always shot fixed blade but have been thinking about trying out a mechanical. Nothing wrong with my fixed blades, just curious to see how the mechs fly and how they’d perform in the field.

Here’s where I need your help – I’m the Jon Snow of mechanical broadheads. I literally know nothing beyond what I read here and word of mouth. Never tried them so not sure where to start. The problem is, I don’t want to spend 40-50 bucks for 3 of something that I may not even end up using. Ideally I could shoot a variety and go from there but I don’t have access to a variety of them and don’t know a lot of people who hunt near me.

So, what would be your recommendation? I know Rage is popular, as is Schwacker (Swacker? Sawyer?) There seems to be a new one every day, each promising chainsaw like effects, and all with more menacing names than the last ones.

Anyone know of a way to try them out without breaking the bank? I’ve been cruising the classifieds here but most seem to have 19 of something they don’t like anymore. I don’t need 19, I need maybe 1 or 2. Also hard to tell since I don’t know what I’m looking at whether it’s’ a good deal or not. Would the Medusa’s Eye shoot better than the Bigfoot’s Junk? I have no idea. Maybe they’re known to snap like balsa wood upon contact with a flea fart.

Any help is appreciated, like I said nothing wrong with my current setup just looking to try something new. Maybe I’ll love it, maybe not.

Thanks!

Aluminum Arrow Advice

Discount Prices on Archery Supplies Right Here

Going to get all new arrows for the EVO I just bought from the classifieds. Being that all the arrows I have now are a mix of several different carbons I’ve been trying over the years, I’m planning on cutting them down for my boys who are now shooting compounds. I’ve been thinking really hard about going to aluminums or possibly FMJ’s as I want a heavier arrow and potentially more penetration since I’m dropping down some in poundage due to a back injury. All that being said, can you guys reccomend what aluminum setup may work best for me. Shooting 56lbs and 28"dl. I usually shoot a 100 grain broadhead, but would be willing to change that as well to get the best possible set up.

Brass Insert Advice?

Discount Prices on Archery Supplies Right Here

Someone told me to increase accuracy I should add weight to the front of my arrow to improve the front of center. So I added 50 grain brass inserts to my Carbon Express Maxima Reds. The first two pictures is the first two arrows. The third picture is my 60 yard group after adjusting the site as the pins had to be made a little further due to the arrow being heavier. I feel like it made an amazing improvement, but should I go more than that? I am shooting at 65 pounds, 28 inch draw, and my arrows weigh 430 grains. Anyone who has any advice on building arrows, your insight is greatly appreciated.

Any advice for new ASA 3d shooter this coming season….

Discount Prices on Archery Supplies Right Here

First off , I am completely new to anything other than local shoots , 3d only, and I know this is the general archery section, but thought I would receive more comments.
I have shot locally for the last 6 years , and honestly don’t know how I would stack up against other people on a national level , and a good friend of mine finally convinced me to give it a try , so this coming year I plan on shooting several ASA events , and hopefully a couple IBO shoots.
I feel like I shoot decent, but there is certainly room for improvement, and I am used to shooting unknown, but earlier this year , before my wife’s accident and I was forced to sell my 3d bow , I started shooting known 50 for the first time ever shooting known , and I really enjoyed it , but only got to shoot 7 shoots with my bow , before I was forced to sell it due to her being out of work. I have no idea that if the scores that I have been averaging locally would even put me on the board at an ASA shoot.
I shot a few shoots with my hunting setup, but only 7 with my dedicated 3d bow this past season. I have no idea if I can shoot good enough to even compete , and from all of the advice that I have received locally from ASA shooters is that I should have been at this a couple of years ago.
I shoot 30 targets , Known 50, locally now after 6 years of unknown , but due to nerves and lack of confidence I plan on shooting Open C starting out , and hopefully don’t embarrass myself too bad….Lol.
I know little about ASA , and hope that anyone out there could give me any advice on my upcoming season.
I honestly don’t know if I will even be competitive, but I feel that it would be fun to finally try it , at least a few times, so any advice or help at all would be much appreciated….
Thanks guys…

Archery Neck Shot Advice

Discount Prices on Archery Supplies Right Here

I shot at a doe on Saturday she was facing me head on and I tried a neck shot I know this is not the best shot but I took it and the arrow grazed her neck and it put a hole on the side of her neck she immediately was pouring blood out she ran 50 yards and stopped I could see blood coming out if her neck when I got down there was Brite red blood on the trees and leaves. My question is she going to die or is she just going to run and bleed alot I found puddles of blood were she was standing but my arrow did not hit any heart or lungs I’m going to track her more tomorrow any advice would be great thanks I know my hit was not in the finals but can a deer still die from a broad head slashing to the side of the neck?

Sight advice please

Discount Prices on Archery Supplies Right Here

Hello,

I am looking for a little advice on a new sight. I currently have a Trophy Ridge Micro Hitman 5 and I really want a sight with a dovetail extension. I have been trying to get an extension from Trophy Ridge without success, they said they sent one but it never arrived and now I am not able to get responses to any of my emails, so I am looking at possible new sights. I will only be using this in the back yard, with hopes of eventually doing some local 3D shoots, so I do not want to spend a fortune. I have found all of the following sights for under $ 100 new.

So out of the following options which one do you think would be the best option, taking into consideration price, quality, customer service and the fact that I am only using it for recreational target shooting purposes.

Extreme Raptor 911 D/T Dovetail Bow Sight – $ 55
3006 KP Aluma 5 Pin Dovetail Precision – $ 59
Apex Bone Collector Detach Bracket – $ 92
Copper John Dead Nuts 3 Mark 3 w/Micro Adjust & Sight Extension – $ 94
Sword Apex 3rd Plane Sight – $ 100

If you know of any more that I may have missed, or if you know of anyone that might have a good used one that that would fit my criteria please let me know.

Thanks,

Bill

Fletching Jig Advice

Discount Prices on Archery Supplies Right Here

What’s the best jig out there for fletching with a right helical using 2 inch blazer vanes? Was thinking of going with the Blitzenburger but some say you will not get a good helical because of the shortness of the blazers. Appreciate all advice, thank you.
